October 2008 – Juni 2013: “Phasing out of PCBs and PCB-containing equipment Project”
Тhe overall objective of this Project was defined by the priorities designated in the National Implementation Plan for reduction and elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants. Implementation of the mentioned priorities would help the countries fulfill the obligations towards the Stockholm convention on POPs and with that improve the environmental conditions and reduce and/or eliminate the threats from pollution of the environment and exposure of the population to PCBs.
Through establishment of environmentally sound management system for PCBs and PCBs containing equipment, this Project will contribute in strengthening the national capacities, including legislation, institutional and technical capacities, raising public awareness as well as phase out of PCB equipment in demonstration equipment first, and afterwards replacement of any PCB equipment in the country.
