After signing the Stockholm Convention, the Republic of Macedonia became eligible for financial assistance provided by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
Macedonia was among the first three countries to be granted funds for implementation of the Project: “Enabling activities for facilitate early action on the implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in the Republic of Macedonia”.
The POPs Office was responsible for coordinating and conducting the overall activities for implementation of this Project, with a main goal to prepare the National Implementation Plan (NIP) for reduction and elimination of the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
