ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE TENDER PUBLISHED BY UNIDO FOR HCH TECHNOLOGY SELECTION AT THE OHIS SITE

In order to address the long-standing problem of HCH waste (lindane and its isomers) historically deposited at the OHIS plant site, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning through its Project Unit for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) is in the process of implementing the project " Removal of Technical and Economic Barriers to Initiating the Clean-up Activities for Alpha-HCH, Beta-HCH and Lindane Contaminated Sites at OHIS.

Notification: UNIDO, the agency responsible for the project implementation , has extended the deadline for submission of applications/offers until 16th of December 2019

The project ”Enabling activities to facilitate early action on the implementation of the Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants in the Republic of Macedonia” is approved for the period April, 2002 – April, 2004. It is financed by GEF and implemented in the Republic of Macedonia by UNIDO.

Following the meeting of the Steering Committee, the National Project Coordination Unit was established under auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of Macedonia by the end of April, 2002. It became fully operational from May 1, 2002, as POPs office.
Responsibilities of the NPCU are:

  • Establishment and coordination of a national expertise network;
  • Project management and integration of outputs from various working groups;
  • Public awareness initiatives and
  • Identification and mobilization of international assistance and partnership.
